Matix Lumber Inc. is currently seeking a Site Supervisor to join our team at our Martensville, Saskatchewan Norspan location. The Site Supervisor must have extensive knowledge of the building industry. The selected candidate has demonstrated the ability to provide a high level of customer service while simultaneously planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the daily activities of all assigned construction projects.

The Site Supervisor's responsibilities include:

Assisting with the preparation and execution of the overall work plan and schedule.
Organizes and maintains project site files and documents; manages electronic document database and/or file sharing site.
Managing electronic document database and/or file sharing site.
Maintaining up-to-date, accurate documents for the project, including drawings, plans, submittals, document logs, purchase orders, etc.
Assisting with the hands-on labour work on site, as required.
Reviewing subcontractor/supplier progress applications and payment certificates.
Liaising with architects, consulting engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding contract and change notices, design revisions, RFIs, RFQs, etc.
Preparing and participating in meetings with the project team, architects, consultants, and subcontractors
Preparing and distributing accurate and detailed meeting minutes in a timely manner.
Assisting with providing the final document turnover to the client at the completion of the project.
Coordinating deficiencies in a timely manner.
Maintaining project awareness in order to keep Project Manager(s) and others informed about status and potential project issues.
Providing other technical office support as required by the project team.
Other duties/tasks as assigned.

The Site Supervisor will have:

A minimum of 5-7 years of building industry experience.
Having a Level 3 in Carpentry would be an asset
Ability to carry out minor repairs and corrective work on-site
A degree or diploma in a construction-related discipline, as well as demonstrated, progressive experience in General Contracting, is considered an asset.
Experience running multiple, concurrent projects and working on projects in remote communities would be considered an asset.
Demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office
Ability to travel to and temporarily reside in remote Northern locations for project durations of up to 3 weeks on, followed by scheduled time off.

We are currently seeking a Draftsperson to join our team at our Martensville, Saskatchewan location. The Draftsperson will play a hands-on role in bringing architectural concepts to life by developing and preparing detailed designs and drawings to facilitate the construction of new homes. This includes creating plans, diagrams, and layouts from sketches while ensuring all drawings are accurate, well-coordinated, and aligned with design data and project specifications.

The Draftsperson will be responsible for:

• Designing and preparing plans using computer-aided design and drafting software.

• Adding structural details to architectural plans from their knowledge of building techniques.

• Checking and verifying designs to ensure that the drawings conform to design specifications and requirements.

• Coordinating and incorporating design revisions, redlines, and consultant inputs into drawing sets as required.

• Assisting with the preparation of construction specifications, cost estimations, and material takeoffs

• Ensuring all drawings and structural requirements comply with the building codes and bylaws.

• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, architects, tradespersons, and clients to ensure accurate and effective implementation of designs.

• Interpret client sketches, notes, and specifications into detailed drawings

• Maintaining an organized archive of drawings, revisions, and project files.

• Other related duties as assigned.

The Draftsperson will have:

• 3–5 years of architectural drafting experience.

• Working knowledge of the National Building Code (Part 3 and Part 9).

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit would be an asset.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in architecture, drafting, or a related field.

• Previous experience working on residential and commercial construction projects.

• Strong understanding of building materials, manufacturing processes, and building methods and standards.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, growing, and ever-changing environment.

Construction Estimator (Saskatchewan)

The Construction Estimator must have extensive knowledge of the building industry including full-cycle building experience. The selected candidate is a sales professional who has extensive knowledge of the building industry assisting in providing a high-level customer service to our clients.

This role will be required to work Monday – Friday in our Martensville, Saskatchewan location.

The Construction Estimator will be responsible for:

Completing accurate cost estimates and collecting quotes from contractors for residential, and commercial construction.
Develop multiple alternate project plans and schedules.
Prepare budgets from preconstruction design information.
Collecting all pertinent documents including property plans, technical drawings, and project specifications.
Determine project scope and contribute to preconstruction meetings to determining bid strategies.
Completing all labour, material, scheduling and other necessary items associated with estimating for the entire project.
Tracking priorities for the estimating department across all internal departments.
Working with project teams to meet all deadlines.
Creating material quotes in BisTrack according to standard operating procedures.
Other duties/tasks as assigned.

The successful candidate will have:

3-5 years of experience as a construction estimator (including labour, material and trades quoting experience for both residential and construction).
Relevant post-secondary education in a construction-related discipline is considered an asset.
Knowledge of the building envelope for both residential and commercial construction.
Ability to read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
Attention to detail as well as related math, technical and calculating skills.
Exceptional quantitative skills.
Detail-oriented, dependable, conscientious, and well-spoken.
Experience with BisTrack and Procore is considered an asset.
